Reason for learning Japanese

I think my love for Japanese culture fundamentally drives me to learn Japanese here. I have been fascinated by traditional Japanese culture for long ever since I took the traditional Japanese drama class in my junior year in university. I really found myself interested in those Japanese arts such as Non play and  Kabuki, and have travelled to Japan several times during the cherry blossom season and summer festivals. However, those journeys were not as convenient as I thought due to the language reasons, because of this I truly hope I could master Japanese language one day.

The most exciting thing I found in my Japanese course is that I could frequently practice with my classmates, so that I could understand them easily without spending much time in memorizing grammar things. The most challenging thing for me, however, is to memorize the pronunciation of each word currently. Since I'm a Chinese, I could usually understand the Kanji easily, but the tricky thing is that those Kanji pronounces  exactly different from the Kanji in Chinese, and sometimes I might just mix the Japanese pronunciation with the Chinese ones. The good thing is that I have now gradually overcome this problem, as I have learned to switch the mode of  "speaking Chinese" to "speaking Japanese" when I began my daily study of Japanese.

  1. I also hope to learn Japanese so I can speak the language when I have the chance to visit! This Japanese course has been very pleasing to me as well because of the amount of collaboration and practice we have with conversational Japanese. In my previous language class in high school, Spanish, I wasn't able to really speak in conversation well because we never practiced like we do in Japanese.

    1. I agree! We did do a lot of practice in class, which helps a lot. That's also really different from the language class in my high school, in most cases it's just my teacher talking about grammar things... Where do you want to go when visiting Japan? For me I really love Kyoto, Tokyo and Hokkaido (especially in winter)!

  2. I also hope to better my future traveling to Japan through learning Japanese. Maybe we can go together if the opportunity should come. I have never been to Japan during the cherry blossom season. I want to see the photographs!!

    1. The cherry blossom season in Japan is awesome, yet I'm still not luck enough to see the 桜吹雪(さくらふぶき). It was such a pity for me, and I will definitely go there again. Maybe next time we can go together!

  3. That's so nice that you already understand the kanji easily because that's definitely going to be difficult for me. Also really nice that you've seen the cherry blossoms so many times! I haven't since I was younger and would love to go back soon.
